High School Dance Training at Shaw?

Train harder. Perform bigger. Become your best at Shaw Dance.
For competitive dancers entering 10th grade and above

Going into 10th grade and wondering how to continue your competition dance journey? We offer several exciting pathways to help you grow, train, and perform at your highest level- still part of our amazing studio!

Dancers’ 9th grade and under follow Shaw Dance Studio’s traditional Artistic Company performing and TRAINING program. Exceptions will NOT be made.

  • Full participation in all required technique classes and company training 

  • Performance and programming opportunities throughout the season 

  • Schedule includes Monday and Thursday evenings, with occasional Saturdays.

  1.  Artistic Company Track (Preferred Track)

    For dedicated dancers committed to full training and growth.

This track is ideal for dancers building toward higher levels while receiving excellent, well-rounded training. 

  • Full participation in Artistic Company classes, programming, and performances 

  • Opportunities for a small number of additional routines or classes 

  • Dancers train in ALL weekly technique classes 

  • Schedule includes Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and occasional Saturdays

  1. Prestige Elites + Varsity (Preferred Track with Elites)
    Our most comprehensive training option for advanced, serious dancers.

This path provides the strongest, most well-rounded dance education and experience.

  High School Team Track

Designed for dancers actively participating in their high school dance or cheer team. (10th grade and above)

  • Weekly Shaw Dance team rehearsal (Monday or Wednesday evening- TBD) 

  • Must also be a current member of a high school dance or cheer team (Not debate, drama, basketball, etc.)

  • Required: at least one ballet class per week at Shaw Dance

Auxiliary Teams
Perfect for dancers who want to specialize and focus on specific styles.
Options may include: Modern Team, Legend Hip Hop Team, Pointe, Tap Company, and more. (10th grade and above)

This option supports dancers balancing both school and studio commitments- ONE night per week.

  • Audition required for each selected team 

  • Required: at least one ballet class per week at Shaw Dance

Auditions are open to all levels of dancers, ranging from 4 years on up. Dancers will audition according to their age and current assessed ability. They will learn various combinations and  technical skills, and then students will be placed in the appropriate class for their ability, age and  height based on their performance at the audition. All factors will be measured to place each  dancer in the class best suited to push and challenge them while building a cohesive team.  Audition process is required of any dancer wishing to compete on any team during the upcoming dance year.

Auditions: June 2nd or 3rd at Shaw Dance Studio

 Dancers will register online for audition. (shawdance.com> online registration> input  current parent email> login or create account (Do NOT create a NEW account unless you  are a NEW client!)> register for Competition Dance Team Auditions> input CC and pay  $15 audition fee. (Register for only MONDAY only, and then we will assign exact day and  time. There is a chance you may be auditioning on Tuesday.)  

  • Video links of combinations will be emailed one week prior to audition to all pre-registered  dancers. Register by May 26 to receive link in time for at home rehearsal.  • Dancers will be sent an exact audition time for June 2nd or 3rd, depending on current  level and age and will come to Shaw Dance at his/her scheduled time. (Shaw Dance will  assign audition time and date.) 

  • The in-studio audition process will take approximately 30 minutes.  

  • New team members will be posted on studio website or emailed by Wednesday, June 4 by Noon. 

  • Summer classes run June 2- July 10, 2025. ALL NEW Company members of ALL levels  are required to attend summer classes.  

  • Dancers should wear dance attire to auditions- tight leotards, crop tops, leggings, or tight  shorts.  

  • Dancers will be placed on various Company teams, or may be referred to recreational  classes for further training.  

  • Audition will be closed to all spectators.  

• Dancers- again- will be placed in the best class suited to their level, age and height.

“Elite” members will be chosen from the highest scores of those auditioning for “Shaw  Artistic Company.” There will be four potential Elite teams: Prestige Elites, Encore Elites, Force Elites, and  Esteem Elites. The Elite team is for advanced dancers who are serious about their craft. This is an additional  team for Shaw Artistic Company members. College and older high school Elite dancers with Shaw Staff  permission to only participate in Elites must attend summer Elite technique classes as well as ballet class held  either Monday or Thursday in the summer.  Please call if you have questions or special circumstances due to a vacation, etc.- we will work with you!
