Dancers enrolled in combination classes wear the studio leotard, which is new this year and white tights for weekly class. Price is $18.00. Combination dancers also need white ballet shoes and black tap shoes. Hip Hop or cheer students may wear anything comfortable to move in with tennis shoes, and clogging students may wear comfortable clothing with white clogging shoes. Beg. Jazz students should wear all black dancewear with tan gore boots, and tumbling students must wear studio leotard, footless tights or hot shorts with bare feet. How do I enroll my child in a class?

A spot can be reserved in a class by leaving a message over the phone or by email at shawdance@comcast.net. Registration must be completed by filling out all necessary forms at the studio and paying the registration fee. These forms can be completed at one of the Open Houses or prior to classes beginning. It is always wise to set aside or reserve a spot in your desired class prior to actual registration. Many classes fill quickly.

Return back to questions

Is there an observation day?
The first lesson of every other month is set aside as parent observation day. We ask that small children be left home or be taken out if they become noisy.

Return back to questions

Is there a registration fee?
The registration fee for the 2010-2011 traditional school year is $30.00 per student if you sign up online for auto pay each month, or $40.00 for students who prefer to pay by cash, check or credit card in the studio office. A studio gift is also included with this fee. This fee covers insurance, monthly accounting, monthly communications, etc. This fee is due upon enrollment each year.

What performing opportunities are there?
Every student has the opportunity to perform if desired. Competitive classes will compete in five competitions as well as other local events, and all classes will get the chance to be in the studio concerts at Christmas and in May. It is not necessary to have your dancer perform; however, performing is a tremendous learning experience.

Return back to questions

What costs are associated with the concerts?
We will charge a concert fee for each of the concerts. The Christmas concert fee will be $25.00 and there will be no ticket charge. The spring concert fee will be $35.00, and will include two tickets. Additional tickets can be purchased for $4.00 each.

Return back to questions

Can my student attend a free trial class?
We do not offer trial lessons. It is necessary to take class for at least one month to understand if a dancer might enjoy the experience. Tuition is charged by the month.

Return back to questions

What if my student does not like the class?
If after one month of class a student is not happy with a class, he/she can try another class or just quit. Remember to complete a drop/add form in the studio office.

Return back to questions

How do I know what class to enroll my child in?
That is a very personal question for each individual. Usually, our dancers start out in combination classes, then progress to Danceline and eventually Showteam. We offer dozens of classes to meet the needs and desires of each student.

Return back to questions

Is it appropriate for my child to repeat a class for two or more years?
Yes!!! There is nothing wrong with doing intermediate combination or Danceline for two or more years. Class repetition is actually a good thing where dancers can really master and become proficient at a subject.

Return back to questions

What is the difference between competitive and recreation classes?
Recreation classes come to practice or class once per month and get the chance to perform in the Christmas and Spring Concerts. Competition teams require some sort of audition or previous experience and will perform and compete quite extensively throughout the year. Competition students usually attend class more than once per week.

Return back to questions

How is monthly tuition paid and/or collected?
Tuition is due monthly and is due no later than the 15th of each month to avoid a late fee. Tuition can be paid by cash, check or credit card in the studio, or through our new account management program, tuition can be paid by credit card online either as a one time payment or on a regular monthly basis.
